FAQ

Common questions

For volunteers and the charities posting opportunities.

Who can volunteer through Sadie?
Anyone 16 or over can sign up. Some roles (like driving or working with tamariki) may have extra checks — the charity will let you know when you apply.
Does it cost anything to volunteer or list a role?
No. Sadie is completely free for volunteers and for the charities and community groups posting opportunities.
How much time do I need to commit?
It's up to you. Roles range from one-off events of a couple of hours to regular weekly shifts. Every listing shows the exact date, time, and expected commitment.
What happens after I sign up for an opportunity?
The charity gets your details and confirms your spot by email, usually within a day or two. You'll get a reminder before the day and can message them directly if plans change.
I run a charity — how do I list opportunities?
Head to the 'I run a charity' page to create a free account. Once you're verified you can post as many opportunities as you like and manage volunteer sign-ups from your dashboard.
Do you check that charities are legitimate?
Yes. We verify every organisation before their listings go live and show a 'Verified' badge on their opportunities so volunteers know who they're helping.
